As people may be aware I recently owned a Google Nexus One

It was cool, but then it broke.  I was very sad.  I took it to the repair shop.  I waited and waited and waited.  And waited…
Eventually after nearly a month the repair shop told me it could not be fixed, and offered me a new Android phone as an alternative.
I chose an HTC Desire, as it was practically identical to the Nexus One, and immediately available

Weirdly, it was a parallel import from T-mobile Europe, and the instruction manual was in German only.  And the OS was only Android 2.1 (Eclair).
Nonetheless it worked fine, and I was happy.
Now, today, the over-the-air upgrade from Eclair to Froyo (Android 2.2) has finally been pushed.  I installed it via wifi, and it works fine.
I am very very happy with my new Android phone.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Apple!

Iv'e just been talking with the repair people about my Nexus One.  Apparently they have not been able to fix the old one, so they offered me the choice of an HTC Desire immediately (as they have them in stock) versus ordering a replacement Nexus One.
